Hello! My name is Tina Swithin, Author of Divorcing a Narcissist and founder of One Mom’s Battle.
In 2009, I began a high-conflict custody battle against someone with narcissistic personality disorder (NPD). My new reality was very isolating. While I had supportive friends and family members, I felt very alone in my plight to protect my daughters. I came to realize that unless a person has been directly affected by someone with NPD, they really can't grasp the delusions, chaos, projection and gaslighting that someone with a personality disorder is known for. While my marriage to this person was difficult and abusive, a custody battle with a narcissist these issues to levels that few can comprehend.
My battle came to an end in 2019, after ten years in the family court system. I successfully terminated my ex-husband’s parental rights. My family has a happy ending after what can only be described as a decade-long nightmare. As a result of what my daughters and I have been through, I am dedicated to supporting survivors of narcissistic abuse while continuing to educate the court system on the realities of high-conflict divorce. This forum is one of the ways I help to validate and support those who are still on the battlefield.
